Come try the wonderful fluid medium, Alcohol Ink!

We will be working on two different surfaces, photo paper and ceramic tile.

You will learn

  • the basic principles of how alcohol ink works and what to use to make the ink flow
  • the difference between inks
  • various techniques for beautiful effects
  • how to create a landscapes and flowers

This class will prepare you for the gel plate printing class in the afternoon but it not a prerequisite.

Please bring a shoebox or other small box to take your work home with you.

Instructor Bio

Ariane Flichel was born and raised in Regina SK where she continues to teach and maintain a home-based studio practice.  She studied under the late Jack Cowin at the University of Regina, graduating with a BFA Visual Arts degree with Distinction and a double major in Drawing and Printmaking in 2005. She earned an MFA Visual Arts degree in Printmedia working under the late Karen Savage at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, graduating in 2009. Ariane works with notions of nostalgia and memory and specializes in traditional softground Copperplate Etching. She is now focused monoprints and print transfers with non-traditional materials and is revisiting linocut and intaglio printmaking techniques. She also dabbles in Jewelry Architecture and Painting. You can find her at markets around Saskatchewan.
